Product Review: Medimix Ayurvedic Face Wash

Medimix was an inseparable part of my teen life.
Puberty had hit me hard and my face was covered with acne all the time. At that time, one of my aunt had recommended that I try the Medimix soap for washing my face and that turned out to be the best decision of my life.
Fast forward to 15 years, I am in my 30’s and out of nowhere, zits start appearing on  my face. In the beginning it was one on my nose or another on the cheeks. But it in no time, I could play connect the dots game on my face and I was not too happy about it.

The face wash is gel based and is neither too runny nor too thick.
A small drop of the gel face wash works up a good lather to cover your entire face and neck.
The face wash has a strong aroma, something that reminded me of an Ayurvedic Spa and Salon that I had visited a few years ago.

After the first application, my face felt squeaky clean and unlike other face washes I have used in the past it didn’t dry my face.
After a week of application, my acne had started drying out and my skin felt soft.

I think this is the simplest beauty routine one can add to their lifestyle to ensure a healthy skincare routine on a daily basis. The Medimix Ayurvedic Face wash has found a permanent place on my wash basin now. This face wash is now my daily dose of Ayurveda.

Outfit Post : Stripes and Polkas

Mixing Prints has been in trend for the longest time now.
Though my tryst with mixing prints first started with nail art, I quickly transitioned to mixing prints in my wardrobe too.
According to me, stripes and polka dots are the easiest prints to mix and are a complete no-brainer.
So if you haven't embraced this trend yet and want to, I would recommend you start with them and gradually move on to bolder mixes.

Food Review: Holachef

Being a working wife I sometimes struggle a lot with clashing deadlines and trying to achieve worklife balance. Also being the ideal wife (purely my opinion) I want to achieve and excel in all. I want to achieve office targets without compromising my family’s health. I insist on giving home cooked dabbas for me and my husband. But then there are some days when I just want my well being and sanity.. do things at my pace and not run around the clock. For such days when home cooked meals is not an option I have always relied on Holachef to come to my rescue!

What do I love about Holachef ? Doorstep delivery…. Combination meals…… Huge variety of both veg and non veg….. Salad Option if you are dieting…… Amazing sweets menu if its your cheat day.. and of course quality and tasty food at affordable prices. Holachef surpasses all my requirements.
Saurabh Saxena, founder of Holachef has rightly said that “Holachef is a fine-dine restaurant in cloud”. I could not agree more with him since Holachef is nothing less than a food revolution. It brings world’s best cuisine from the master chefs’ kitchen right on to your dining table. For those searching for a cloud culinary experience look no further than Holachef.

I had decided to treat my office team and since I love Holachef, guess where we ordered from. All you have to do is log in to the Holachef website, select your pin code and BANG... the menu opens.  The menu is a filled with choices to spoil anyone and everyone. If you are in a mood to have something light and desi, there’s dal khichadi and roti sabzi, but if you want something fancy then sky is the limit.

We selected a lot of interesting food options and here’s how it all went.































This amazing and tasty banquet at the price of Rs 2,000 only made by Friday absolutely smashing. Combination meal options allowed me to order as my individual team member’s choices and the desserts was for the table to be shared by all.

Must try..

Veg Yellow Thai Curry with Fragrant Pot Rice and Cottage Cheese in Barbecue Sauce by Chef Arbind Tamang - The paneer was succulent and tasty but the clear favourite was the truly amazing thai curry with fragrant pot rice. The dish was executed perfectly and the bright colours of bell peppers peeking through the rice made it a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The serving was huge and well worth the price. Well done Chef Arbind! God bless you! You made my Friday office lunch wonderful.

Chicken Keema Matar Bhuna Masala with Chapatis by Chef Ravi Saha – Absolutely tasty and lip smacking. The Chapatis were soft and fresh.
Next we moved on to dry Chilli Chicken again by chef Arbind Tamang. It was a tad bit dry but still worth a try.

Devil's Food Cake by Chef Preety Shetty – The super divine Devil’s Food cake was as light as a feather with just a thin layer of chocolate frosting. It was not too sweet and was just a perfect combination on moist and chocolaty. I tried not to share it with my team mates, but then they grabbed it from me. Take it from me, that cake was a HIT!!!!

Verdict:
The number of food options on Holachef pleasantly surprised me and I am now a loyalist.
The food was delicious, authentically flavored and priced perfectly.  
Apart from the bit dry Chilli Chicken, every item on our order was Bang On and too difficult to share.

Would I recommend Holachef?
Of course I would. It's perfect for everyone, whether you are a bachelor or live in a joint family. Whether you are a stay at home person or a working professional.

Travel Post: Top 5 Things To Do in Tarkarli

Goa has always been a favorite destination for beach lovers in Mumbai.
But due to the huge initiative by MTDC to promote tourism in Sindhudurg, Tarkarli is now definitely counted among the most popular beach destinations with people in Maharashtra.

Tarkarli is not as developed and commercialized like Goa and it lacks the night life factor. But if you are looking for unadulterated beaches, beautiful long coastlines and finger licking good food, Tarkarli is a place you must visit.

How to travel to Tarkarli?
You can take the Konkan railways to reach Tarkarli. It arrives way before Goa or you can simply drive there. No airports yet in Tarkarli, but let's hope it soon changes.

Where to stay?
The most popular hotel to stay in Tarkarli is definitely the MTDC Beach Resort which has a great location, as it is built on the beach. So every morning you can walk out from your room and reach the beach in less than two minutes. In Tarkarli, you will mostly find home-stay accommodations, which are comfortable, clean and light on the pockets. We stayed in a home-stay accommodation too, and it was much better than we expected.

I visited Tarkarli in January 2016, and below are the top 5 things to do in Tarkarli according to me.


Hit the Beach:
I was surprised to see that the Tarkarli beach, inspite of being so famous with beach lovers is well maintained and still not too crowded.
Apart from beach activities, the Takarli beach is perfect for long evening walks on the sand because of its long coastlines, while you feel the soft sand slip under your feet.
On our trip to Tarkarli, we walked to the beach every evening to watch the sunset and ordered chai from the MTDC restaurant which is located right on the beach.

Many of my friends have tried snorkeling and scuba diving in Tarkarli and they loved it. So trying that also might be a good option.

Camel Ride:

Camel rides on the Tarkarli beach surprised me and I had too much fun riding on the camel.
They charge around Rs. 50 per head for a 5 minute camel ride.
There were horse carriages too, but we didn't ride them.

Devbagh Sangam: 
On the left is the Karli river Backwaters and on the right, the Arabian Sea
Around 4 kms away from Tarkarli beach is Devbagh Sangam.
Devbagh means a Garden of the Gods and Sangam means confluence.
Devbagh Sangam is where the Arabian sea meets Karli river.
This too is a beautiful location to visit. On one end you see the calm and quite backwaters of Karli river and on the other, you see the gushing and raging waves of the Arabian sea. The sand is white and the beach unadulterated.

You can also enjoy boat rides on the backwaters of Karli river. Though we didn't do it, it would be a good idea because of the natural beauty surrounding this place.


Food:
The main cuisine in Tarkarli is Malvani food. And it is indeed a paradise for sea food lovers.
There are hardly any fancy restaurants and hotels in Tarkarli. Though we liked the food at the MTDC restaurant, we enjoyed the food more from local home-stay kitchens also know as 'Khanawal'.
Ghaavne Chutney
Make sure you sample the Ghaavne and coconut chutney for breakfast.
Ghaavne is a variation of the famous Neer Dosa. The difference being they are thicker in texture and since they are made from 'ukda chawal' or parboiled rice and roasted on iron girdles, it is slightly brown in color.
Every restaurant/khanawal that you eat at Tarkarli will serve you Solkadi/Kokamkadi. And if they don't, please ask them for it.
Solkadi is an appetizing drink and an inseparable part of Malvani cuisine. It is made from coconut milk and kokum juice with a mild flavoring of garlic, cumin and salt. It is pink in color and acts as a soothing agent when accompanied with the spicy and hot Malvani curries.

For dessert, ask for Ukdicha Modak, which are sweet dumplings stuffed with grated coconut and jaggery.
Since the home-stays here are not too big in scale, they only make food in limited quantities as per order. So make sure you give order for your breakfast/lunch/dinner a day or atleast a few hours in advance to avoid going hungry for the day.
And last but not the least, everyone who has visited Tarkarli will tell you about this restaurant called 'Atithi Bamboo".

It is by far the best restaurant in Tarkarli and its specialty is sea food. We did try this place, and it was soooooo good. I recommend you try it at least once when you visit Tarkarli.

Temples:
You might not be religious, but exploring nearby temples in Tarkarli in a rented car is a good idea.
The Kunkeshwar temple is a must visit, because it is built on the Kunkeshwar beach. The beach is beautiful and the temple is huge, artistic and gorgeous.


One more fun thing to try at Tarkarli would be cruising in House Boats. They are quite popular, but since I didn't experience them, they do not make it to my list of must do things in Tarkarli.
