Quick Desert Recipe: Cool Whip Fruit Salad

Hello Everyone.
Till now you must have realized, that we are making a conscious effort to put up some recipe posts on So-Saree. And I am glad, more and more people are relating to my style of cooking which is quick and yummy at the same time.
I have to admit cooking does not come naturally to me, as eating does. ;)
But then I try. And I am always in the lookout for recipes that are quick, less on procedure and more on taste.
Whenever, we have guests over at home for lunch/dinner, I am all pepped up and start cooking up a storm in the kitchen. But there's one department that I leave entirely to my MIL, and that would be the "Dessert" department.
When its time to decide the dessert, I always blank out.
When I shared this dilemma with my SIL, she shared a quick tip/recipe for stirring up a dessert in minutes.
It's called the Cool Whip Fruit Salad.
All you need is Cool Whip or Whipped cream, Condensed Milk (Nestle Milk Maid) and some fruits.
>Mix some condensed milk with Cool Whip, to achieve the desired level of sweetness.
>Cut and stir in some fruits and berries of your choice in the mixture.
We added, mangoes, apples, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, bananas and pomegranate.

Tada..Yummy Cool Whip Fruit Salad is ready.

You can serve the Cool Whip Fruit Salad in ice-cream bowls and pour in some chocolate/butterscotch syrup over it before you serve.
You have to try this recipe. Coz its super easy and super yummy.

Srikhand Recipe

This recipe comes from my SIL's Kitchen.
Calling her a fantastic cook would be an understatement. She is just sooo good.
When we visited them last time, she said that she was going to make srikhand for us.
I am not a big fan of Srikhand, but I didn't object, as my tummy always has place for deserts. :)
I decided to capture the procedure in my camera for my Blog's sake. And I am so glad I did.
Coz the end result was the yummiest srikhand I have ever tasted in my entire lifetime. You just can't stop eating it, until you have devoured it all. It's sinfully rich, and you just can't avoid it.
Quickly note down the recipe and I promise you won't regret it.

Ingredients:
Hung curd made out of whole cream milk.
Sour Cream
Powdered green cardamom
Saffron
Powdered Sugar as per your taste

Procedure:
Hang curd made out of whole cream milk in a muslin cloth for 24 hours. Make sure it does not come in touch with water. Transfer this hung curd in a bowl.
Add equal quantity of sour cream to it.
Then add to it saffron,
sugar

and green cardamom powder and beat it.
Srikhand is ready to be relished.

You can garnish it with dry fruits, if you like.

In case you are looking for a sugar free version of Srikhand, add honey instead of sugar and I promise you won't even understand the difference in taste.

The main ingredient of this recipe is the white portion of the watermelon which is left on its skin after you have sliced off the edible part of the melon.

Quick Snack Recipe: Open Sandwich

Whenever I look through So-Saree's posts, I always feel that I am not doing enough recipe posts although I cook so much.
The major reason behind it can be that I irritate people around me when I am clicking pics of the food rather than serving it to them. And then again there's always too little time left to click pics or to garnish the dish to make it look blog worthy.
So over the past few weeks I have been making a conscious attempt at clicking pics of the recipes I stir up, as much as I can. And so here I am, with the easiest and yummiest snack recipe for you.

I have always maintained that anything I cook should not take me hours and should not compromise on taste at all.
Today's recipe passes this test and is called the Open Sandwhich. My husband prefers to call it Bread Pizza, and I don't mind it as long as he is eating it. Right?

Ingredients:
Bread Slices (White or Brown)
Butter
Bell Pepper, Tomatoes finely diced
Sweet Corn boiled in salt water
Green Chutney
Chaat Masala
Grated Cheese

Procedure:
Apply green chutney on the bread slice.
Top it with the the veggies, sprinkle some chaat masala

and finally finish it off with some grated cheese.
Now on a non stick pan put some butter and place your assembled Open Sandwich on it. Cover it till the cheese melts and you are done.
Open Sandwich is ready to be relished.
It tastes better with tomato ketchup.

This is a great snack that is tasty and easy to make. Perfect for kitty parties or if you are having friends over.
The best part is it can be customized as per your preference to make it healthier.
For example using brown bread instead of white.
Adding butter on the non stick pan makes the bread slice crisp, but if you like healthy more than crispy, give it a miss.
Same is the case with Cheese.

Hope you like this recipe and will try it soon.

Polka Love

I love polkas.
I wouldn't be lying if I say that 60% of my tops have a polka dot print.
So much is my obsession with this print, that if I ever buy a top in another print, my family is stunned.

Last week when I was going through my US Trip pics, I came across this pic,

and I just coudn't stop raving about it. The pearls and polka combination looked perfect.
{Am I bordering narcissim?? I think so..! But Who cares??}
That is the time I realized that I have never done a polka dot nail art. And there's no better timing to do it.

The easiest nail art to attempt and a good one for beginners.

For this nail art, I used Sally Hansen's Black Out(370), White On(300) and Invisible(100) and a dotting tool. I painted my alternate nails black and white. Then did white polka dots on black nails and vice versa. Topped it up with the Invisible clear polish.

And it was done in no time.
Hope you liked it.
