My Best Friend's Wedding...A Pictorial Presentation

Hey Guys...So today I am here to share another post from the So-Shaadi series.
I know I drifted a bit from the So-Shaadi series, but I am back now.
A few months ago, my best friend got married to her long time buddy, and I couldn't have been happier for them.
A Marathi Mulgi married a Himachali Chokra and what followed was a beautiful amalgamation of two different cultures into one. :)
So today we have a pictorial presentation of my Best Friend's Wedding. :)
Scroll down and enjoy.

The morning before the wedding.

The Bridal Entourage awaits the Groom and the Baraat.

 The Baraat arrives in style.
It's time to welcome the Dulhe Raja (Groom) with some nose pulling. ;)
 Meet the Mother in Laws
Meanwhile...in the changing room. The Bride gets Ready.

The Bride's friends help her get ready...or say, just act for the cameras. ;)
The Sassy Bride is finally ready

And the cameras start clicking again.
The Dulha joins his Dulhaniya in the act....And they pose some more.
This time the Saalis (Bride's sisters) join their to-be Jiju
It's finally time for the wedding to begin. The Groom is brought in the Mandap by his family.

Now comes the Bride.

Soulmates....!!!

Meanwhile the Bride's sister and cousins are able to steal the Groom's shoes.

Mission Accomplished..!
It's time to make the Dulha's wallet a little lighter. :)

It's now time for the Reception.
Giving some finishing touches to the Man of the Day.
And while the Saalis wanted to take their favourite Jiju home, the Bride somehow is able to save him for herself.
Because their Happily Ever After has Just Begun. :)

Baaya : Where Design Meets Tradition

A few days ago, I was invited to visit the Baaya Design Studio at Lower Parel, Mumbai.
The purpose was to learn about their work and also to check out the #LadiesSpecial Exhibition they were hosting in view of the upcoming festive season in India.
Ms. Shibani Jain: Founder & CEO Baaya Design
A simple one hour tour of their store in Lower Parel, acquainted me with the rich cultural history of our country. The Founder and CEO of #BaayaDesign Ms. Shibani Jain, took us through the various artworks at display at the store and explained the origin and the history of the various art forms prevalent in different states of India.
I was amazed to learn that there are so many beautiful art forms in India, which we as Urban Indians are hardly aware of or tend to ignore.
Baaya connects with the local artisans across the length and breadth of the country and applies their skill to create beautiful, modern yet contemporary pieces that can transform any empty space into a beautiful artistic space. I now let the pictures speak for themselves.
Even my shitty photography skills, couldn't stop me from capturing the beauty of this store. :)

Ling Po: The ancient Pot making culture from Orissa

Moving on to the ladies special exhibition, they had some gorgeous, fun and quirky stuff at display.
Hand painted leather chappals and handbags were my favourite.
Also, there were hand painted Kalamkari umbrellas, handpainted Warli print stoles and sarees and rakhis made using the tradional Dokra art.
The exhibition is from the 6th-10th of August. So hurry up, before it too late.

And last but not the least, My Favourites....!  :)

Wishes Do Come True.... #AbHarWishHogiPoori

I have always thought of India as a land of festivals and holidays.
We have a festival to celebrate anything and everything.

We have Guru Poornima for the teachers, Children's day for children, Karwa Chauth for husbands and wives, Raksha Bandhan for brothers and sisters, etc.

When I read Bhumika's post where she was contemplating gifting the all new Motorola Moto 360 Smart Watch to her husband, I was so tempted to buy something for my husband and surprise him. But then I thought I do that too often.

As I was browsing through some of my favourite shopping portals online, I came across some Raksha Bandhan deals and offers. And a thought struck me. I thought …so what if I don't have a brother. I do have someone more special in my life, someone who has been like a protective wall for me and a guiding light; someone who has pampered me silly with expensive gifts without a reason and someone, who has done more for me than any brother must have done for his sister.
My Pillar..My Sister!
I am talking about my elder sister, my Didi.

So on the eve of Raksha Bandhan I have decided to tweak the tradition a little bit, and gift my sister something that will not only make her happy but I think will fulfil at least one of her wishes.

You already know, how influenced I am by my Mom's saree style, but I have never told you that in my growing up years it was my Didi who shaped my fashion choices. As a young girl, I would often fall prey to ever changing trends and she would pull me back and emphasize on timeless beauties and style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Gayatri Devi.

If it wasn't for her, I am very sure So-Saree would have been a compilation of tacky sarees and style. So if you love So-Saree, now you know who you should thank. J

So coming back to Raksha Bandhan, my sister and I are a huge fans of Bengali sarees. The Taanth and the Jamdaani are our weakness. So a few months ago, my sister told me that she was looking for a two toned Jamdaani saree, and she had searched so much, but couldn't find one for herself.

After months of research and browsing, I unexpectedly found something on Flipkart.com that I know would fit the bill completely for my elder sis.

I am sure she will love it, and every time she wears it she will remember how special she is to me.

Who needs a brother when you have sister like mine and who needs a genie, when you have Flipkart.com . Kyunki with Flipkart #AbHarWishHogiPoori.

Do you like this saree? And what are your plans for Raksha Bandhan this year?
