So-Saree Readers Speak - Pramila

We are back with our Readers Speak Segment and I hope I am able to make it a regular feature on the blog.
Today's reader is a person whose saree style I really like.
Traditional with a lot of sass, is how I would define it.
So without much ado, lets move on to see what she has to say.

It's a huge compliment that my pics were chosen to be featured on So-Saree.
I follow So-Saree since its all about fashion, culture, tradition, style tips, nail art and being oneself. I appreciate and follow the blog as it inspires me to be myself yet stand out from the crowd. It's different and when I say different I honestly mean it. I have grown immensely in my dressing sense and people have noticed the change .....it's classy now.
I always loved Sarees and I find them very graceful. I believe any women looks pretty in a saree provided its draped well. I have never failed to turn heads when I wear a saree. Saree just happens to be one of those things that brings out the beauty in a women. It's a sexy outfit and yet earns brownie points with conservative people as well. ;)
I love love love sarees....So sarees !!! ;)
I wish Aditi and her blog all the best for all future endeavors and I am highly obliged for featuring me......I am just loving this attention 😍😍

Thanks Pramila, for your kind words. You really carry your sarees with a lot of grace.

So-Saree Readers Speak - Priyanka G

It's time for another So-Saree Reader feature.
And today we have Priyanka G. sharing her love for sarees and So-Saree along with a story about how she picked the perfect saree for her engagement.
Over to you Priyanka..!

Wow! Thanks Aditi for letting me a part of your blog which I have been reading for so many years. Be Indian or western, formal or casuals, your sense of fashion is superb and elegant. Most importantly it’s sensible and easy to follow for any woman. So-Saree helps me to be updated with new trends in market.

I think any Indian girl/woman loves to see herself draped in a saree more than any other dress. I remember when I was a kid; my mother bought me a ‘Kalpana Saree’ specifically made for kids. I use to wear and flaunt it in style on Dashera, Nag Panchami, Sankranti with suitable accessories to complete the dressing.
Saree is such an apparel that suits any event anywhere in the world. All you need to do is  play a bit with accessories and you are done. For the past so many years, I have been wearing sarees but my most memorable moment happened recently during my engagement. As per Maharashtrian tradition, the bride-to-be gets a green saree from her in-laws which needs to be worn for engagement rituals and ring ceremony. My mother-in-law suggested that my fiancé and I should go together and get a green saree of my choice. I was very sure that I wanted a typical Marathi Mulgi look on this most important event of my life. Accordingly the type of saree, jewelry, make-up and hairstyle was clear in my mind.
So, we both went for shopping two sarees – a green saree and another another one from my maternal side. I explained to the sales person at the saree showroom that I was looking for a Maharashtrian style green color zari saree. Within a few minutes, I had finalised my sarees. A peacock green silk saree with zari border and blue pallu from my in-laws side and another turmeric yellow saree with zari border for the maternal side. Surprisingly my shopping was done in 20 minutes and my fiance was astonished at this feat.
I teamed up my saree with heavy golden jhumkas, choker style necklace, banunath (nose ring) and golden todey (bangles) with green chooda and red chandrakor bindi gave the perfect Maharashtrian bride look I had imagined.
I was nervous as everybody’s eyes were on me and my fiance's relatives and friends were curious to meet his choice. Thank God! My equation of saree and accessories was a hit. My fiance and everybody at the ceremony just couldn’t stop complimenting me. And with this I breathed a sigh of relief.

Priyanka, I have now words to describe how stunning you look. And thanks for all the love and appreciation.

So-Saree Readers Speak - Yashita

Another saree lover shares her love for sarees today and shares pictures of her favourite saree.
I am seriously crushing over her saree and can't wait to share her pictures with you all.
Please welcome Yashita on the blog. :)

I love to wear our traditional wear i.e. Saree. Though I wear it occasionally I can't define my love for sarees, especially designer sarees.
I went to Kalki Fashion Boutique to buy a designer Saree, as had heard a lot about Kalka's boutique and wanted to pick a saree from this boutique for my cousin's wedding
As soon as I saw this saree I went head over heels for it and when I draped it, it was so beautiful that I couldn't resist buying it.
I love reading So-Saree as it gives me insights about the latest trends, patterns, fashion and much more. Below are a few pics of me wearing this beautiful saree.
Hope you like them.

Thanks Yashita, for sharing your pictures. You look absolutely beautiful.

So today's reader is a homemaker and gorgeous mother of two beautiful kids. Over to you Priya.

A saree is a traditional attire that has been beautifying women since ancient times. Your blogs are really interesting and you precisely describe what Indian women wear and I really love the Indian traditional part. You have perfectly described it and I love to read your BLOG..keep writing.

The look I am sharing today is an answer to those who think ladies draped in saree lack swag? So girls and ladies wear sarees in different styles and ace the traditional look with a modern flair. Hope you guys liked it.

So-Saree Readers Speak - Priyanka

Hey guys...we are back again after a short break with one of my favourite segment...The So-Saree Readers Speak Segment.

After all, a little bit of compliments and encouragement never hurt anyone.
Today's featured reader is a dentist by profession.
Gosh..I am already visualizing her drilling teeth with her sensuous saree on.

That's just me...so never mind.
Over to you Priyanka....

When I was young, I would see my mom drape these really beautiful sarees and the ethnicity of the saree would always make me fall in love with our Indian culture all the more. My love for saree grew even more when I got my first very own saree. That was for my 10th standard farewell :)
I love wearing sarees for special occasions. I own a few of them and everytime I wear a saree it makes me feel more beautiful and Indian.
I feel So-Saree is a very good platform, especially for all the young girls out there who still think that wearing and carrying a saree is one big task!!! The varied amount of sarees and the awesome experiences shared by all the girls, I am sure would help a lot many :)

Dressed traditionally in my favourite saree..Paithani

Thank you Priyanka..You look absolutely smashing in those sarees. And I have serious crush on your Paithani.

So-Saree Readers Speak - Ruchita

Hello Everyone!
Hope you are enjoying the Navratri Festivities because I am not ...and someone should.

Life has been busy and my blog is surviving on pre-drafted posts.
So I apologise if I have not been able to keep up with the blog posts of my bloggers friends.
But other than that Life is good.
Especially because we have a So-Saree Reader post to share today.
Today's reader also happens to be family.
Ruchita Thakkar is my husband's cousin and happens to be an ardent follower of So-Saree.
She not only appreciates and encourages So-Saree, but also pampers me with nail art goodies.
And that is not the only reason why I like her so much. (sheepish grin)
Today she features on the So-Saree Readers Post to share her love for my blog and of course me. :)
Thank you Ruchita..Believe me when I say it..I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
Over To You....
I started reading So-Saree mainly to get to know Aditi. Being globally distant meant that there was hardly any opportunity for the same. However, I soon realized that I started to get hooked to reading the posts on So-Saree and would find myself waiting for a new post always. What has maintained my interest in the blog is variety in topics (travel, nail art, culture, recipes) and the way of writing (straight from heart). The posts are concise and at the same time doing justice to the subject. My favourite post so far has been the one on Autism. I was so touched by Sayuri’s life and in some way inspired me. I love the quick recipe posts as well.

Coming back to the purpose of why I started to read So-Saree posts, I feel I had achieved it, as when I met Aditi for the first time, I found her to be, just like I had expected her through reading her posts.

I used to write blog posts on recipes (smartandhealthycooking.blogspot.co.uk) which I stopped long while back. Hence, I realise that it is not easy to stay committed to writing in midst of busy schedule. I admire Aditi’s dedication and hard work in maintaining the spark of her blog.

I was requested to send my picture in a Saree to accompany this post. But, I am not a great fan at wearing saree mainly because (whether you believe it or not), I have yet to master the skill of draping the saree well and carrying it elegantly as well. Anyways, this picture is few years old taken at a Diwali pot luck party that we were attending at a friend’s place.

I would like to end this note by saying a huge thank you to So Saree for giving me an opportunity to write a post.

Aditi, you are doing a great job. Keep it up . Keep blogging!!!

Happy Dussera To All !!!

So-Saree Readers Speak - Ishita

Hey Everyone..we are back with another Reader Post and trust me this is slowly becoming my favourite section on So-Saree.
I mean a little praise and compliments didn't hurt anyone.
So I say..bring it on.
If you wish to feature yourself in this section, please email me you post and pictures on sosareee@gmail.com.

Moving on, today's reader is Ishita Somaiya.

I am really not a Saree lover, flaunting a Saree is a huge task for me. I guess I look more bulky in Saree due to my excess weight. Still no matter what, I had to wear a Saree at my best friend's wedding because that was a deal between us..Thanks to my stars, I didn't trip somewhere while walking in a saree ;) :P
And
I guess I managed the Saree thing pretty well ;). Sharing few pictures I took at my best friend's wedding!!
I am completely in love with So-Saree as it covers an array of topics right from fashion, accessories, food and travel. Aditi you are doing a marvelous job by writing about different topics on your blog and inspiring people. I look forward to the easiest and quickest recipes that you post, they are too yummilicious to resist..My most loved section is the nail-art one, the designs are incredible and fantastic.

Thank you for featuring me here :) It was a real pleasure !!!!
Keep rocking and Keep blogging!!!!
Looking forward to read many more lovely posts!!!!!

Thank you Ishita, for your kind words..and let me tell you...
You look gorgeous and elegant in this saree. Hope you embrace saree from now on.
Keep reading So-Saree.

So-Saree Readers Speak - Gayatri

Another So-Saree Reader speaks today.
Today's Reader happens to be an ex-colleague of mine.
Back then, I knew her as the girl in our office who wore sarees as everyday office wear.
No points for guessing..I fell in love with her right then.

But then we never really interacted.
We actually got back in touch and hit it off well after we both quit our jobs and started blogging.
Yup..We are Blog Sisters...if that, even is a terminology.

Today she is here to share her Saree Love.
Over to you ...Gayatri.

Aditi and I were working in the same organization, but we never spoke to each other. Like me, she too loved Sarees and this made us connect instantly! She would be the only one excited to wear a Saree, during festivals in office. I loved the way she draped the saree and accessorized it with simple and beautiful jewellery. When she left the organization to become an entrepreneur, my respect for her increased even more...Very few people gather the courage to take the road less traveled. Somewhere, she inspired me to follow my heart too! I am so happy to see her growing in her chosen field, successfully!

I’ve been following So-Saree from last year and I admire Aditi’s patience. Her nail-arts are the best. I too hope one day to try some of them. As of now, I just want my nails to grow. Any tips on that, welcome!
I was in school, when I first wore a saree. It was our annual day and the theme was ‘National Integration’. Though I don’t have the pictures of, I remember how excited I was to wear a saree. As I grew up, my love for sarees increased. I would eagerly wait for festivals like, Vishu, Onam, Ganesh Chathurthi, Navratri and Diwali. I learnt the art of draping the saree, from my step-mom. She believed that a Saree enhances the beauty of a girl. Sarees do accentuate your curves when draped efficiently. I have a huge collection of sarees, right from the traditional Paithani, Kanjivaram, Dharmavam, Banarsi Silk to simple Chiffon everyday wear. While I was working, I ensured to wear saree at least once in a week. I traveled in the Mumbai local trains and trust me it is quite challenging to wear a saree amidst such crowd.
I prefer to wear chiffon sarees during rainy season, as they dry very soon. My personal favourite are Kanjivaram, Kerala cotton and Coimbatore cotton silk sarees. Though I love sarees, I don’t enjoy shopping for the same. Most of my collection is either gifted by my dad or my husband or mother-in-law. I am lucky, for they choose the best for me!
I like wearing simple accessories, mostly pearls or a gold necklace with the traditional ones. With chiffons, I prefer, long earrings and a smart bracelet. I love to add colorful glass bangles as well, as they enhance the beauty...even more.
Like me, do you love sarees, if yes then which are your favorites. I am waiting to hear....
Happy Weekend!!

Thank you Gayatri for this wonderful post.
You can follow Gayatri on Twitter and she blogs on Outside the Kitchen Window and Pacman's Foodie Venture.
Do check her blogs out.

So-Saree Readers Speak - Dhriti

Our next Reader to share her love for So-Saree is Dhriti Harpalani.
Hi Aditi,
I visited your blog (again) today with an intention of getting an inspiration :) Since quite a few days I am planning to start writing. But I think, I am not yet there. I think I am in the process of making up my mind ;) That day will come soon - I guess am too lazy to start.

Moreover I loved your blog posts that I have read so far and that made me write an email to you :) I saw the polka dots nail art on the blog and thought of sharing a few pictures of my nail art I did a few years ago :)
I thought of emailing you about my thoughts after reading your blog. Thanks for being an inspiration!
And this is me in a saree playing cricket. :)
If you thought walking in a saree was tough, draw some inspiration from Dhriti, who's playing cricket in a saree. How cool is that!!!

Thanks Dhriti for all the kind words. And I love your nail art too. It's simple and elegant, and easily do-able.
I thank you for inspiring my readers as well as me.

And thank you once again for following So-Saree.

I came across Aditi's blog when I first started blogging, and I soon became a big fan! I love Aditi's style of writing, the topics she thinks of, the yummy, simple recipes and the nail art. So-Saree Readers Speak_Neha

Our Next Reader to speak up is Neha Dalvi.
Firstly let me congratulate you on your blog's first anniversary. Reading your blog has been quite a good source of entertainment. Keep up the good work girl!!
I love the varied topics that you cover in your blog right from fashion, food, tradition and of course SAREE.
I was never a saree fan per se. In fact draping a saree and carrying it off was a Big Deal for me :( I somehow thought the entire thing is a pain in the a**. I never bought a saree or even wanted to own one since mom had a huge collection of it. For all my college saree days or traditional day functions it had to be one from mom's wardrobe. But lately I look for occasions to wear one, thanks to my wedding where I flaunted a nine yard saree. I always wanted to look that typical Marathi bride wearing a nine yard saree and a Nath (nose ring). My dad always said "A girl looks her best in an Indian attire" and I completely agree to him now. I am proud owner of 8 sarees (Hahaha I have foot wears the double of it though).
Since you are the Saree queen, all So-Saree fans would love to see YOU (No face chopped off ) in your favorite saree soon !!

Thank you Neha. Appreciate all your kind words and encouragement. Regarding posting my pictures is concerned, don't you think, I am better off being the mysterious person in saree?? ;)

Keep visiting So-Saree, because we are on the last week of So-Saree's month long Blogathon. :)

Dr. Mona Gandhi
Congratulations Aditi for a fabulous year of blogging, and thank you for featuring me here.

Sharing a pic of myself I took recently at a wedding. I love wearing a 'Nath' and I wish I could wear it everyday. :)

So-Saree Readers Speak_Payal

Today's So-Saree Reader is my dearest childhood friend Payal. We went to the same playschool and high school too. Our mom's were friends too, and we had so much fun together.
But then bad things happened...
We grew up..! And got busy with our lives.
But then good things happened sometime later..
i.e. So-Saree happened..!;)
And I am glad all my friends are reading it and and enjoying it as much. So, to ease some burden off me from the month long blogathon, I asked my dear friend to do a guest post, and she did so well. I am so happy to have asked her. Go ahead and read what Payal has to say.

"A new, exciting post almost every alternate day! Isn't that a good enough reason to be an avid follower of So-Saree? First of all, let me start by congratulating Aditi and her blog on it's successful run of 1 year. I must admit I have an attention deficit disorder so it's kind of an uphill task for me to be following someone on a regular basis. But Aditi's blog got me hooked and how! It all started with the name. So-Saree sounded intriguing and so I had to see what it was all about.. Also, the fact that it was my childhood friend's blog made it all the more special. So, I decided to check it out at least for courtesy sake if nothing else. And thank god, I did! I think initially, it all started with some posts on sarees and then moved on to nail-art, personal heartfelt stories, experiences, new finds, celebrity news and hell lot of other interesting posts. (BTW I love, love your experiments with nail-art and every single time, if any nail-art online catches my fancy, it always reminds me of you.)
I must admit that I was never really a huge saree person. Wore it only for the occasional weddings in the family or on some special days at work. But then last year, marriage happened and my life took a sudden turn! Now here I was, on my wedding day, going through the whole shaadi drill with 5 saree changes (and a lehenga to add to that) in a single day! It didn't seem too much of a hassle though because I had my personal stylist and my friends to help me deal with the ordeal. But this was only half the fun. More majja happened post marriage when I had to drape a saree for every other occasion right from a pooja to a visit to the temple or a relative's place or some festival. No one really forced me into it but looking at my wedding pictures and seeing how pretty and elegant (self-praise alert!) I looked in a saree, I made it a point to wear a saree at least for the special times. It made my husband also very happy *wink wink* I think it's got something to do with Indian men and their psyche. They absolutely love seeing their wives (I am hoping only their wives!) wrapped sexily in a saree. I never had a problem draping a saree back in India because I always had my mom or my sister or my sasuma or some aunty coming to my rescue always!

The real fun began when I moved to California with my husband. With my whole life packed in two bags, here I was, in a completely different world, setting up a new house, settling in myself, making new friends and trying to make our house a home. Come November 2013 and it was time for our first Diwali and our first big pooja together. Diwali as a festival has a lot of prominence in Hindu households and especially if you are a newly wed couple. My sasuma sent us faraal, diwali decoration, lantern, rangoli and lots of love and blessings all the way from India. Now we had to live up to that and make it the best diwali of all times for both of us. And so for the pooja, I decided that I had to wear a saree! Yes, an actual 6 yards long piece of garment with no mom or aunty to help! After my marriage date was fixed, my mom(and my brother as well!) had shown me step-by-step how to wear a saree.*Yes, I have a crazy family and I love them to the hilt.* They had made me practice it as well a couple of times but I never really got the hang of it. It still brings a smile on my face when I think of Diwali day and how I googled various youtube videos and after several false tries, somehow managed to drape a saree (It did hold it's own I must add) without any help! Correction. My dearest husband did help me with the whole 'process' making it all the more enjoyable and fun.
I have definitely made some progress since then and was recently pleased as punch when I managed to drape a saree in my first attempt itself for Makar Sankranti. I won't say it came out perfect but then there's always a next time. I ain't stopping now :) Here's to lots more saree madness and hotness in the times to come!

P.S. This being my first blog ever, I was wondering whether I will be able to do justice to you and your page. I was hoping that I would be able to scribble down a few lines and now here it is, almost two sides full! Whatever and however be it, I thoroughly enjoyed writing it and it was definitely an experience to cherish. Now, at least,  I have a hint of what it takes to be a successful blogger. Wishing you lots more happiness and success in the days to come. You go girl! Love and luck always - Payal

In this post I am sharing a few of my favorite clicks in a saree. Hope you guys like it."

My Wedding day, the day when I felt like the queen of the world!

Told ya! I have a crazy family. That's my brother giving final touches to my haldi look :)

Our Diwali Pooja. The first time I ever draped a saree without any help. (Husband's notwithstanding!)

That's me on Makar Sankranti. Here's to my slow and steady progress!

Majha Navra. My partner-in-crime, my support system, my heartbeat, my everything!

Keep visiting So-Saree, because we are on the last week of So-Saree's month long Blogathon. :)
