Marilyn on my Tips

I haven't posted a nail art post for the longest time, and the reason being, I haven't had the time to do any in the recent past. Of course I paint my nails every week, but  nail art has taken  a back seat due to my growing impatience.

So a few months back, when I caught up with my buddy,  Manisha of Mani Matters, I forced her to do my nails.
And being the nail art expert that she is, she did a fantastic job.
I had so much fun seeing her create amazing patterns on my nails using nail stamps and sequins.
I had just one instruction for her. I wanted Marilyn Monroe on my tips. The rest just fell in place.
The end result was more than perfect.
Thank You so much Manisha. You are a sweetheart and a fantastic artist.
Manisha used the below to complete this nail art.

1. OPI My Vampire: Buff polish
2. Konad Black stamping polish
3. Black sequins
4. Born Pretty Store Stamping plate  - BP-L016
5. Seche Vite Fast dry top coat

Hope you liked it.

Nail Art Inpired by Gems

Some time ago, I tried a simple nail art using the polka dot theme.
The difference was, I coloured all my nails in different bright colours and drew white polka dots on them.
I loved the end result and it reminded me of my childhood days, when I used to gorge on Cadbury's Gems.
Do you like this nail art and do you like Gems or M&M's?
Let me know, in the comments below.

Nail Art - Leopard Print

It's been a while since I shared my nail art pictures on the blog.
Last year I was really lazy as far as doing nail art was concerned. I did the easiest and the quickest nail art and finished it off as a chore.
I am looking to change it this year. Lets see how it goes.

Leopard Print Nails are the easiest to do. All you need is two colours of your choice, a tooth pick/dotting tool and a finishing coat.
I used Sally Hansesn's White on White and Invisible(Top coat), Revlon's Totally Toffee and a Black Nail art sketch pen.
Apply White nailpaint as the base. Using the broader end of the toothpick, do random spots on your white nails with the brown nailpaint. Now dip the sharp end of the toothpick in black polish and unevenly border the spots. I used the nail art sketch pen to do the uneven border. Finish with a top coat once nail paint dries.

Easy isn't it? So when are you giving it a try?

So-Saree Readers Speak - Dhriti

Our next Reader to share her love for So-Saree is Dhriti Harpalani.
Hi Aditi,
I visited your blog (again) today with an intention of getting an inspiration :) Since quite a few days I am planning to start writing. But I think, I am not yet there. I think I am in the process of making up my mind ;) That day will come soon - I guess am too lazy to start.

Moreover I loved your blog posts that I have read so far and that made me write an email to you :) I saw the polka dots nail art on the blog and thought of sharing a few pictures of my nail art I did a few years ago :)
I thought of emailing you about my thoughts after reading your blog. Thanks for being an inspiration!
And this is me in a saree playing cricket. :)
If you thought walking in a saree was tough, draw some inspiration from Dhriti, who's playing cricket in a saree. How cool is that!!!

Thanks Dhriti for all the kind words. And I love your nail art too. It's simple and elegant, and easily do-able.
I thank you for inspiring my readers as well as me.

And thank you once again for following So-Saree.

Polka Love

I love polkas.
I wouldn't be lying if I say that 60% of my tops have a polka dot print.
So much is my obsession with this print, that if I ever buy a top in another print, my family is stunned.

Last week when I was going through my US Trip pics, I came across this pic,

and I just coudn't stop raving about it. The pearls and polka combination looked perfect.
{Am I bordering narcissim?? I think so..! But Who cares??}
That is the time I realized that I have never done a polka dot nail art. And there's no better timing to do it.

The easiest nail art to attempt and a good one for beginners.

For this nail art, I used Sally Hansen's Black Out(370), White On(300) and Invisible(100) and a dotting tool. I painted my alternate nails black and white. Then did white polka dots on black nails and vice versa. Topped it up with the Invisible clear polish.

And it was done in no time.
Hope you liked it.

What Nail Art Taught Me..

1: The battle for achievement of success is half won when one knows definitely what is wanted. -Napoleon Hill, The Law of Success
First decide on what look you would like for your nails today? Half battle won.

2: One of the most valuable things any person can learn is the art of using the knowledge and experience of others.
-Napoleon Hill, The Law of Success

Google, read magazines browse thru blogs [read So-Saree ;)] for nail art inspiration.

3: Patience, and Perseverance are the two essentials to success.
-Anon

If not anything else try nail art to get a P.H.D. in Patience and Perseverance. :)

4: This moment, here and now, is the time to taste life.
-Osho

Go arty with nails...NOW..!!!

After the Nikhil Thampi Nails, yellow, black and white seems to be a combination I have been loving too much. These nail art is inspired from a nail art tutorial I saw on Youtube, but I am too jet lagged to search a link of it now. So please bear with me.
The nail colors used are again by VOV and the black stripes were done using nail art sketch pens. Hope you like them.

Thank you for reading and keep in touch coz So-Saree is blogging non-stop for a whole month.

Spit it Out!

I do use this phrase a lot... Lot more than you would expect.
Anxiety does that to me. Sometimes..or maybe all the times.
As much as I use this phrase, I hate the literal translation of it. Especially if you are at public places.
Come on people. Why and what makes you spit in public places? While walking, while sprinting, while chatting or just that spitting. You don't care where you are, with whom you are ...you just don't seem to care.
Didn't they teach you in school...Spitting spreads diseases.
And still...?

Its atrocious. I seriously don't understand such people.
Whenever I see such people, I wish..how I wish, I had a super power. A power by which I could make the spit bounce back on the face of those letting it out. Cool na? (wicked smile)
That would be a really nice sight.

I had come across an article on the London News, and thought of sharing a few snippets with you along with my Vishesh Tipni aka Special commentary.

London News: "Spitting, like smoking, is essentially a social habit which can affect the health of others. People spit for many reasons, not just because they need to, but because it makes a statement.
So-Saree Speaks: Statement??? Seriously?? Who are you kidding??

London News: "In some social groups spitting is regarded as a mark of 'cool'. Young boys spit to emulate football and athletic stars who spit after intense aerobic exercise when it is difficult to swallow.
So-Saree Speaks: Cool??? I would much rather lock myself in a refrigerator.

London News: "But in countries like India and China, which have high rates of TB, spitting is not a social statement - it's simply the accepted way of clearing the throat and getting rid of excess saliva.
So-Saree Speaks: Eeeeuuw...!

London News:Both countries have initiated major anti-spitting drives and hope public education or onthespot fines will deter culprits."
So-Saree Speaks: Thumbs Up for that..!

And now for those who don't care to read what we write here. Enjoy the pics. ;)

I again used VOV nail polishes for this nail art. Blue and yellow looks really good together. don't you think so?:) I used a toothpick to make those yellow stripes. {Yup..still no nail art tools. :)}
Hope you like it.

Keep visiting So-Saree, because we are blogging every day for a month.

P.S. This is a pre-scheduled post coz I had to travel to California for work. My next post will also be a pre-scheduled one, and I wont be accessing any social media forums for a few days. But I want you guys to keep coming back to So-Saree, coz I am trying my level best to keep this blogathon going, and I need your support. For the later part the blogathon will continue.. but from a different country, and the spirit shall remain unchanged.

Inspired By Nikhil Thampi.

Hello everyone ..
Did you know, that So-Saree gets maximum views whenever we do a nail art post?
That gives me one more reason to blog about them. :)
The So-Nails section on So-Saree is my favorite too, and to those who complain that I don't post my pics on the blog, thanks to this feature, at least you get to see my hands. ;)

Today's post is very special. Because it's inspired by one of my favorite designers.
Nikhil Thampi.
I am sure this man needs no introduction but to those who don't know about him..Plz help yourself.
Jokes apart..Nikhil Thampi is a name that has become synonymous with sophisticated elegance. He has been making a lot of heads turn on and off the ramp. If you have been following So-Saree's Facebook Page, you would know exactly, why we are so crazy about him. Thanks to him, most of our celebrities do not have to fret over, what to wear for red carpet events and this.. from a person who has no formal training in fashion.
And since I couldn't hide my admiration for this man any longer I decided to create a nail art using Nikhil Thampi's very famous fish motif.
The Inspiration.
My weak attempt at recreating it.

I received this Mug from Kazo coz I won a Giveaway on Debi's Blog.
This is my Tiger Paw Pose. But my husband prefers to call it the Road-Side Beggar Pose.(lol)

I created the fish motifs using Nail Art Sketch Pens, and nail colours by VOV.
While it might take me a few more years until I actually bring a Nikhil Thampi home, this nail art enabled me to own a piece of NT without much ado. Wot say?
Hope you like it.
Keep visiting So-Saree, because we are blogging every day for a month.
